Compensation: $50,000-$65,000

Innisfree Garden, a nationally recognized 185-acre public garden, seeks a dynamic and highly motivated Public Program and Outreach Manager to develop and implement engaging educational initiatives in collaboration with the Executive Director and Landscape Curator. This role focuses on designing and managing inclusive, mission-driven programs that connect diverse audiences to the garden's unique history, design, and ecology. The position plays a key role in supporting marketing and outreach efforts to expand community engagement.

The ideal candidate is an innovative thinker and skilled communicator with experience in educational programming, visitor services, and marketing within a museum, public garden, or cultural institution. Strong project management, organizational abilities, and leadership skills are essential.

Responsibilities/Duties

Educational Programs & Interpretation

  • Develop and deliver engaging educational programs, tours, and workshops for a broad public audience.
  • Foster strategic partnerships with schools, community organizations, and cultural institutions to expand educational outreach.
  • Support the development and execution of strategic marketing campaigns to promote educational programs and public events.

Visitor Experience & Engagement

  • Hire and manage part-time seasonal Visitors Services staff.
  • Oversee front-line visitor services, including admissions, event registration, membership engagement, and guest relations.
  • Ensure a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive visitor experience through well-planned services and interactions.
  • Collect and analyze visitor feedback to refine programs and continuously improve the visitor experience.

Marketing & Outreach

  • Create compelling, audience-driven content for the website, social media, and email newsletters to engage and expand Innisfree's reach.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media partners, local organizations, and community leaders to increase visibility.
  • Track, analyze, and apply engagement metrics to refine outreach strategies and enhance participation.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, museum studies, marketing, communications, environmental studies, horticulture, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in educational programming, visitor services, or marketing within a museum, public garden, or cultural institution.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities, with experience coordinating programs and events.
  • Experience in digital marketing, social media strategy, and content creation preferred.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, visitor engagement tools, or website content management platforms is a plus.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends for special programs and events.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain, gravel paths, and outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during programs, tours, and events.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 lbs. for event and program setup.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person and via phone, email, and digital platforms.

  • Salary range: $50,000–$65,000 (commensurate with experience).
