Start Date: 04/01/25  Compensation: $25 per hour - 15 to 20 hours per week

Waterfront, 4-acre estate on North Shore of Long Island is seeking a part-time gardener to maintain planters, annual and perennial beds (lawn service provided by outside company)

Property was originally designed by Olmsted Bros. and includes specimen plantings and historical landscape elements

Hours/days flexible - April to mid-December

Responsibilities/Duties

• General gardening tasks including but not limited to planting, watering, pruning, deadheading, weeding and fertilizing
• Hand pruning and shaping perennials, climbing plants, topiaries and smaller shrubs
• Monitoring sprinkler system
• Maintaining aesthetics of overall property and removing debris
• Overseeing services provided by outside landscaper
• Designing and installing seasonal plantings
• Does not include any lawn mowing, heavy maintenance work or use of power tools

Qualifications/Requirements

• 1 to 3 years experience as a gardener
• Knowledge of horticultural practices and ability to identify plants
• Knowledge of hand pruning
• Interest in fine gardening and garden design
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Additional Information

Ability to work one weekend day preferred
Will consider horticulture students and new graduates
