Red Fern Brooklyn is an Industry City-based landscape design studio specializing in sustainable residential garden design, native plant installation, and regenerative maintenance. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team

We are looking for someone with the desire to lead. They should want to use their horticulture and design knowledge to create gorgeous gardens and strong staff gardeners. Ideal candidates have an interest in their work, other people and our environment.  They will spend their days primarily in the field with office days 1-2 days a week.  We offer PTO, educational enrichment,  flexible hours and remote work after an initial probationary period.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Lead small groups of gardeners on maintenance visits, supervising their work and teaching them technique as needed
  • Identify plant pests or disease and set up a plan for treatment
  • Interact with clients with an approachable, informative and warm demeanor
  • Oversee the recording of materials used, staff present, and hours on site in company app, as well as noting any problems that need immediate attention
  • Keeping visits on schedule and communicating with the office and client if the team is running behind schedule
  • Make sure the maintenance vehicle is stocked with materials at the end of every day; make notes in the supply database on materials needed
  • Redesign areas that need work in maintenance gardens; assemble design proposals and review with owner
  • Design stoop displays and other annual plantings; select annuals and perennials within budget for use at nursery and also pick up selections for other designers when asked
  • Oversee the watering and organization of plants in the company yard every morning and afternoons as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must have management experience in gardening or other applicable project oriented fields
  • Must have experience in professional gardening along with plant identification, disease/pest identification, and design experience
  • Must be able to carry up to 50lbs and able to work in an outdoor setting for 8hrs a day.
  • Must have impeccable writing and verbal communication; must be able to use 
  • Google Sheets and Docs, Notion, and Gusto
  • Mastery of Adobe Illustrator and In-Design a plus
  • Be able to drive cargo vans, Sprinters, and box trucks. Clean driving record.
