Interior Horticulturists are responsible for the care and maintenance of interior plants and botanic installations in both client spaces across NYC and our studio space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. They play a crucial role in ensuring the health and appearance of plant installations, contributing to the positive experience for our clients by fostering a connection with the natural environment.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Assess individual plant water needs and provide appropriate watering to maintain plant health.
- Monitor for pests and implement treatment as necessary to preserve plant integrity.
- Dust plant leaves and prune foliage to uphold a tidy and attractive appearance.
- Check automated systems (irrigation, lighting) regularly to ensure proper function.
- Assist with installations, including planting, delivery, and installation of interior plants.
- Support living wall installations as required.
- Maintain daily notes, update maintenance logs, and document photos in Google Drive.
- Care for Greenery plant inventory at our HQ/studio, ensuring plants are watered and cared for.
- Continuously develop horticultural skills and proficiency in operating and troubleshooting automated systems.
- Actively participate and contribute to meetings, projects, and company initiatives.
- Unload plants from delivery trucks + assist with the appropriate movement and placement of all live inventory
- Upkeep cleanliness and company safety standards in studio and on-site
- Assist with tracking and movement of inventory throughout studio space
Qualifications/Requirements
- Strong interest in interior tropical plants.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with plants in a professional setting or a degree in horticulture.
- Able to navigate public transit around NYC.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to design and detail.
- Ability to lift objects weighing 30+ lbs regularly.
- Passion for plants and a positive attitude with a sense of humor.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and diverse work environment, demonstrating adaptability, resilience, and a proactive approach to handling multiple tasks and challenges simultaneously
- Comfortable working on ladders
- Availability to work 1 x off hours shift per week (6am -2/11-7)

Physical Demands:
- Most work tasks are performed in a space where the environmental conditions vary widely.
- Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours per day.
- Must be able to work on a ladder up to 16' tall
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the property or other areas on a timely basis.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Must be able to move items weighing in excess of 50 lbs. routinely.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to perform daily tasks.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
- Must be able to work well under pressure managing multiple deadlines.
