 Compensation: $25-$30/hr equivalent, DOE

We are a large private estate in Northern Westchester County looking for a full time, year round grounds technician to join our team.  Our property provides for a unique working experience with acres of gardens, turf areas, and natural meadows to maintain. We also have many buildings, vehicles and equipment, and maintenance/utility areas to look after. 

Responsibilities/Duties

Listed below are a sample of some of the regular tasks and duties of the grounds technician:

• Turf and meadow mowing and maintenance, string trimming and brush cutting work, spring/fall leaf clean ups, lawn re-seeding and topdressing, planting and transplanting of various material, pruning and chainsaw work, edging and mulching of landscape beds, fertilization and spot treatment for insects and weeds, pressure washing and cleaning of buildings and vehicles, and light painting and carpentry duties.
• The candidate should have the experience and knowledge necessary for the safe operation and maintenance of small power equipment, must be able to lift 80 lbs., and must be to work in all weather conditions.
• As this is a year round position, the employee is expected to take part in our winter shoveling and plowing operations.

Qualifications/Requirements

Our work week is Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with no weekend work. This is a full time, year round salaried position, with pay depending on previous experience. Candidate should have at least two years experience in grounds maintenance, and must be at least 21 years of age. 

The candidate must be legal and have reliable transportation and a clean driving record. Must be neat and punctual, reliable and hardworking, detail oriented and organized, and have the ability to work independently or in a group. Plant, turf, and/or equipment knowledge is a plus.

Benefits:

The position comes with 10 paid vacation days to start (becomes 15 after the first full year), as well as 5 paid sick days. Medical insurance begins upon hire, and the option to join a company-matching 401k plan will be offered after first year of employment. Pay is bi-weekly through direct deposit. Salary is dependent upon experience.
