Green Roof Gardener & Irrigation Expert (part-time)
Outside Design Build, a niche Green Roof firm based in Brooklyn, NY with a diverse portfolio in city and Hamptons, with a commitment to sustainable practices is seeking a part-time Green Roof Maintenance Gardener who is passionate, hard- working, versatile, and highly skilled.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Perform routine maintenance of green roofs throughout Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Hamptons.
- A strong working knowledge of plant and weed identification; maintenance of perennials, grasses, vines, shrubs and trees; pest identification and management; training, pruning and deadheading
- Operate tools including hand pruners, rakes, shovels, loppers, and weed whacker (occasional)
- Communicate directly with clients and the public
- Ability to follow instructions and execute tasks in an timely and efficient manor
Qualifications/Requirements
- Dependable, hard-working, and positive attitude
- Punctual and willing to work in all kinds of weather
- 2+ years gardening, irrigation or construction experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills, esp with smartphone
- Ability to work with a team and independently
- Ability to work part-time, currently 2 days / week
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and construction means and methods a strong plus
