Start Date: Spring 2025 Compensation: $25 - $30 per hour based on experience

Responsibilities/Duties
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport employees, materials, and equipment.
- Adhere to traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to ensure safe and efficient transportation.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to identify and report any mechanical issues, damage, or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle's interior and exterior.
- Report accidents, incidents, or traffic violations promptly to the appropriate authorities and supervisors.
- Follow established routes and schedules to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
- Performs gardening tasks at the highest standards and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the aesthetic presentation of plants and garden design.
- Assists with installation, de-installation, demolition, and maintenance of garden areas reflective of the client and Company quality standards.
- Cares for and maintains local and ornamental plants, including in some cases tropical plants, vegetables, and herbs.
- Identifies plant species, insects, and diseases.
- Performs horticultural tasks such as planting, deadheading, weeding, mulching, pruning, and watering of display beds.
- Prunes shrubs and small trees using current arboriculture industry standards.
- Leaves job sites in pristine condition upon task completion.
- Operates and maintains hand-held power equipment such as blowers.
- Follows safety guidelines and manufacture labels for the use of chemicals (fertilizer, pest control, and anti-desiccant spray) and the operation of equipment and tools.
- Loads and unloads materials from trucks.
- Bags and disposes of planting/maintenance debris and ensure a clean work area before leaving a site.
- Reports time and attendance promptly.
- Reports safety and operational needs to direct supervisor.
- Participates in job performance reviews.
- Performs other tasks as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
Certificates and Licenses:
- Degree or certification in horticultural or related field desired
- Valid NYS driver's license and clean driving record required
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
- Defensive driving skills
- Familiarity with local and ornamental plant species and plant identification skills
- Punctual, dependable, and sociable with a positive attitude, fastidious attention to detail, and a love of gardening
- Follow instructions and take initiative
- Work independently as well as part of a team
- Communicate professionally, effectively and promptly with coworkers
- Presentable appearance
- Be flexible in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where priorities shift due to variables like weather, scheduling, and events
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and temperatures
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely
