Compensation: $62,810
Wave Hill is looking for a seasoned Gardener to join the Horticulture Team. This position reports to the Director of Horticulture and is under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Horticulture. The Gardener is required to apply sound horticultural practices to a multitude of gardening situations and related work.
Responsibilities/Duties
- The position involves hard physical labor throughout the year.
- The successful candidate will be an experienced gardener trained to maintain and develop gardens and greenhouse collections.
- Familiarity with botanical nomenclature, planting, cultivating, propagating, watering, fertilizing, pruning, and mulching.
- Pest and weed control and lawn maintenance.
- Maintain and enhance Wave Hill’s unique landscape while working within a creative, collaborative department.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Passion for gardening and desire to work with a diverse collection of hardy and tender plants.
- Minimum three years experience in sound horticultural practice
- Experience working in collection greenhouses is preferred
- Familiarity with the operation of power and hand tools
- A valid driver's license in good standing
- Willingness to work outdoors under all weather conditions
- Ability to work alone and with others in a team-based organization
Additional Information
Salary and Benefits
This position is under a collective bargaining agreement.
- Full-time; Non-exempt
- 5 days a week; 35 hours a week; Weekend rotation and split days off
- Annual Salary: $62,810
