Start Date: late March - early April  Compensation: $22 - $30 / hour

Sweet Dirt is a boutique, established container gardening company located in northern Westchester County. We design, install and maintain planted containers at dozens of local properties. Planters are changed out seasonally. We also design and install holiday decor.

We are looking for a new gardener to add to our team. You will generally work 30-40 hours weekly, with no weekend hours required. Hours vary depending on the time of year. 

Work begins end of March (depending on weather) through mid December.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Maintenance of nursery. This includes organizing, watering and deadheading plants.
• Loading and unloading van for on-site installations, keeping van tidy.
• Prep work and planting planters on-site, some in-ground installation of annuals.
• Clean-up. Watering.
• Occasional use of own vehicle to visit properties to water.

Qualifications/Requirements

Gardening experience and knowledge of plants, especially annuals, is a plus but not required. You will be expected to learn as you go. 

Candidates should

• be fit (able to carry 25 pounds) and able to perform physical work daily. We don’t do heavy labor but there is a lot of plant material that needs to get moved.
• have a valid driver's license and own vehicle.
• be punctual and reliable. .
• pay attention to detail and have good organizational skills.
• be able to take direction and work efficiently and quickly.
• have an energetic attitude and be ready to be outside in all types of weather. 
• be a team player - we are a small outfit with a lot to accomplish each day.

No use of landscaping power tools  (beyond a battery-powered blower) is required.
For the right candidate, this position will lead to added responsibilities, including designing.
