We are a well-established company in New York City seeking a full-time Bookkeeper & HR Coordinator to join our team. This role will support both our accounting and human resources functions and is ideal for someone with experience in both fields who is detail-oriented, organized, and ready to take initiative. The right candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment while handling sensitive financial and personnel matters with professionalism and confidentiality.

Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Compensation: Based on Experience – Starting hourly rate: $26-30. Open to discussion

Responsibilities/Duties

Bookkeeping & Finance

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Track expenses, reimbursements, credit card transactions, and petty cash
  • Prepare and enter journal entries for operating expenses and revenue
  • Assist with audits and reconciliations
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Handle client financial interactions: payments via wire, credit/debit, and check

Human Resources

  • Assist with recruitment, including job postings, resume screening, and interview scheduling
  • Onboard new hires: prepare documentation, conduct orientations, and complete new hire paperwork
  • Maintain and update employee records (attendance, reviews, etc.)
  • Support benefit administration: health insurance, time-off tracking, payroll coordination
  • Respond to employee inquiries and support employee relations efforts
  • Ensure HR documentation is compliant with NYC labor laws and internal policies
  • Coordinate training and professional development opportunities
  • Experience with PEOs (Professional Employer Organizations) for payroll, benefits, and compliance management is required  

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience (QuickBooks and Excel proficiency required)
  • 1-2 years of HR or administrative experience
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
  • Familiarity with NYC labor laws is a plus
  • Experience in gardening, irrigation, or related industries is a bonus
  • Must live within a reasonable commuting distance to our office in West Midtown NYC
