Ballfield and Facility Technician

Compensation: $21 - $22/hr

Riverside Park Conservancy (“RPC”) is looking for a dedicated ballfield and facility technician.  This role involved performing physically demanding tasks, working cooperatively with our groundskeepers and volunteers, and interacting respectfully with the public.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility and have a positive attitude. This position reports to a park facilities supervisor.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist the ballfield supervisor with maintaining and advancing the condition of the ballfield, the dog park areas, and other park facilities.
  • Open and inspect the bathroom facility in the morning
  • Regularly check and restock the bathroom facility with toilet paper, paper towels, and soap. 
  • Clean bathroom facility throughout the day as needed, with one full cleaning each morning. 
  • Clear leaves and trash from ball field dog parks, and other facilities regularly. Sweep paths.
  • Inspect ballfield and facilities for safety hazards daily, remediate and report as needed.
  • Grade, rake and replenish park surfaces as needed such as clay infields, tennis courts, and stone screenings.
  • Pull weeds, mow, and edge with string trimmer regularly.
  • Perform basic maintenance duties for nearby plantings. 
  • Collect and remove trash and debris; sweep paths and stairs; install and maintain temporary fencing; remove snow and ice; operate and properly maintain tools and equipment.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • One year of experience in horticulture, facilities, sports field or golf course maintenance.
  • Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and ability to work a 6:00 am to 2:30 pm work day. Flexibility to work during weekends and infrequently evenings for special events. 
  • Familiarity with small engine maintenance and repair and/or irrigation is a plus but not required.
  • Must be comfortable working around dogs.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds with proper tools and work/ maneuver outdoors (in all weather conditions) on the 400-acre property’s often difficult terrain.
