Start Date: Spring 2025 Compensation: $32 - 47/hr
As an Arborist you will supervise the day-to-day operations of arboriculture projects, ensuring that work is completed safely and efficiently, while maintaining ecological standards. You will work as a team to deliver exceptional results on public and private contracts with a focus on ecological health, sustainability, and beauty.
Your role will involve both hands-on horticultural work and leadership responsibilities, including guiding team members and coordinating site assignments.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Project Management:
- Oversee multiple clients, ensuring projects are executed on time, within budget, and in adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with the design and installation teams to plan and execute tree trimming/installation projects efficiently.
- Resource Allocation:
- Work with the Director of Staff & Studio and Landscaping Lead to manage and allocate resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Quality Control:
- Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure projects exceed client expectations.
- Educate clients on sustainable and ecological practices for ongoing care.
- Team Leadership:
- Participate in, and eventually, conduct regular team meetings to communicate project updates, goals, and performance expectations.
- Establish and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and execution to the highest standard.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative team environment that reflects the company’s values.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with staff as part of the management team to develop and implement best practices for landscaping operations.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in landscaping operations.
- Implement safety protocols and conduct regular training sessions to promote a safe working environment.
Qualifications/Requirements
Job duties include visiting clients/job sites and estimating tree work; working with the crew to help undertake the pruning or removal of trees and shrubs; ensuring crew safety; researching, diagnosing, and writing reports on tree and plant health care issues; assessing tree life cycle management issues and diagnosing tree problems; assisting with tree management plans; performing tree risk assessments; managing and performing tree inventories; and managing tree planting projects, spring and fall, including selecting trees in nurseries and managing field crews.
Client interface is a significant portion of the job so good rapport and ability to communicate clearly and effectively are critical.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Environmental Science, Arboriculture or a related field. Any significant demonstrable hands on experience will be considered because education should not be a barrier to middle class opportunities.
- Proven experience in or exemplified readiness for a leadership role.
- Certification in project management is a plus

- ISA Certified Arborist certification
- 2+ years of arboriculture or related horticultural experience or education required
- Valid Driver’s license
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- OSHA Certification
