EcoTones at Madison Square Park

In this immersive outdoor concert, follow a guided “music trail” through the park, where small ensembles perform original chamber works near the trees and landscapes that inspired them. Beginning at Veteran’s Lawn, the trail concludes on the Oval Lawn with a full-ensemble performance by all 18 musicians.

Commissioned by MSPC, cellist, composer, and presenter Jody Redhage Ferber created these new works as part of her ongoing EcoTones Concerts series, which brings live, site-specific music into outdoor public spaces. The compositions are inspired by the park’s historic trees and its five horticultural collections: Camellias, Daffodils, Hydrangeas, Redbuds, and Witch Hazels.

The experience will continue beyond the event through permanent QR-coded recordings placed throughout the park, allowing visitors to encounter the music again while exploring the landscape.
