Stephen Kristoph - Observations From A Life Spent With Plants

MHG Meetings

Sponsored By: Metro Hort Group

Throughout his professional career as a horticulturist, Stephen has made it a point to study plants with careful observations of their ornamental features, culture, landscape value and pest concerns. Why do some plants continue to be standards in the green industry while others continue to languish in obscurity in some arboretum? What new plants have taken center stage and who are some of the people behind their success? Stephen will share what he has seen and learned about ornamental plants in a lively presentation. Expect information, opinions and a “Kristoph Story.”

Stephen Kristoph owns and operates a nursery in Millstone Township of Monmouth County NJ where he grows many types of ornamental trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials. He has also been an adjunct instructor at Rutgers for over 30 years, is passionate about plants, and likes to share this with others. Plant walks with him are always an adventure. Taking time to smell all the roses is important to him and you can bet if there’s indumentum on a rhododendron leaf close by, it’s likely to get a gentle caress.
