Margie Ruddick
Designers Gone Wild: Letting Things Happen in the Parks and Gardens
Margie will talk about a common theme emerging in her work over the past decade: the idea that watching and waiting to see what happens is a far more sustainable way of designing, and can be richer and much more interesting than importing a design idea from whole cloth in one shot. Projects discussed will range from Shillim Retreat in the Western Ghats of India to Queens Plaza, New York City to her own home landscape in Philadelphia.
For over twenty years Margie Ruddick has worked both independently and as a partner at WRT a planning and design firm. Recognized for her pioneering work, Margie has received numerous awards in the United States and abroad. She has taught at several universities including Princeton, Yale and the Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design.
