DON GABEL - Here comes trouble! A look at the effects of climate change on the landscape.
MHG Meetings
Sponsored By: Metro Hort Group
Join Don for a discussion on climate change and how it has and will affect horticultural and arboricultural practices. He will take a closer look at new non-regional insects and pathogens affecting the landscape and nursery industry, and make recommendations on coping with this new and ever evolving dynamic in the landscape.
Don Gabel has been involved in the green industry for over 50 years, having owned and operated a small consulting business in his early years to serving as the Director of Plant Health at the New York Botanical Garden for 18 years. He continues to teach insects and disease courses at NYBG, as he has been doing for the past 32 years. Currently he is the director of research and development at Growth Solutions, Inc., a new company that creates and provides sustainable solutions to horticulture and arboriculture plant problems. Among his many credentials, he is an ISA Certified Arborist and a member of the N.Y. State Nursery and Landscape Association. Don still enjoys skiing, hiking, 4 grandchildren and an occasional really hard diagnosis.
