Herbs into Weeds: Medieval Medicinals Naturalized in New York State

Many of the European species that live happily in our meadows, roadside verges, and waste places are despised as weeds, although some are beloved as wildflowers. Despite their current lowly status, these plants were once valued medicinals. Deirdre will explore their long and fascinating histories.

Deirdre Larkin is a horticulturist and plant historian who oversees the gardens of The Cloisters, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to the art and architecture of the Middle Ages.
