There are right and wrong ways to do anything. Pruning the wrong way can lead to numerous issues for the tree in the long run. Have no fear, the Gibson Method is here! In this presentation, you'll learn proper pruning techniques that can help enhance the beauty of any space. We'll cover tools and maintenance, and discuss the Gibson Method to creative pruning so you'll be able to sculpt your very own topiary.

Mike P. Gibson, a world renowned self-taught topiary artist from Youngstown, OH, has more than 30 years of experience beautifying public spaces and landscapes. Founder of Gibson Works LLC, he is the nation's leading educator on the art of topiary, and has created over 600 unique topiaries nationwide. He was a contestant on HGTV's Clipped, completed an artist-in-residency at the famed Pearl Fryar's Topiary Garden, and received the 2024 Sowing Excellence Award from APGA. He holds several certificates including a SC Certified Landscape Professional and Therapeutic Horticulture Practitioner. Gibson leads topiary therapy workshops, demonstrations, and lectures, sharing the therapeutic benefits of the art while connecting people to nature. He currently lives in Columbia, SC, with his wife and two children.
