Metro Hort Group professional development grant application
Program goals
The goal of this program is to award three or more grants to support continuing education and professional development of Metro Hort Group members.
Eligibility
Be a current member of Metro Hort Group.
Submit this form.
Submit a letter of recommendation on company letterhead from an individual in the green industry.
Board members of Metro Hort Group are not eligible to apply to the program.
Deadline to apply
Applications will be accepted through November 30, 2025. Awards will be announced at Plant-O-Rama on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. (Snow date Thursday, January 29, 2026).
Instructions
For 2026, 3 or more grants of an amount not to exceed $1,000 per recipient will be awarded.
This grant will support professional development opportunities in calendar year 2026.
Application deadline is midnight on November 30, 2026.
Payment: Awardees must submit their course/program invoice for reimbursement.
Recipients must submit proof of completion/attendance to the Metro Hort Group by December 31, 2026. This information can be emailed to metro.hort.group@gmail.com. If proof of completion is not provided by the end of December 31, 2026, then the funds must be reimbursed to Metro Hort Group.
Award decisions will be based on relevance to professional development in the field of horticulture, financial need, scholarship and the application essay.
Applicants can apply for a portion of or the entire amount of the grant dollars available. Unused funds will be returned to the Grant Program for the following year.

This award has no cash value and is nontransferable.
Priority will be given to candidates that have not been awarded grants in the past.
All essays and responses must be original and created by the applicant. Essays must not incorporate or include anything that violates any copyright, trademark, publicity right, privacy right or any other right of any third party.
By applying to this program, all applicants accept any and all release stipulations from Metro Hort Group to publish content from the applicant's essay, as well as applicant’s name, coursework, and photography.
