Rose Evening at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
A Private Visit to the Cranford Rose Garden
Metro Hort Group and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden invite you for a private visit to the Cranford Rose Garden (tours led by Cranford rosarian Anne O'Neill) followed by a topical lecture by rosarian Stephen Scanniello. Steve's talk, Old Garden Roses as Garden Plants, will focus on old roses as adaptable participants in gardens of all sizes. In addition to their historical significance, old roses offer fragrance, four season interest, and a variety of colors.
Stephen Scanniello, a garden designer and consultant, was rosarian of the Cranford Rose Garden until 1998. He is the president of the Heritage Rose Foundation, and has written four books on roses. A Year in Roses, first published in 1997 and updated in 2006, received the American Horticulture Society's annual book award.
